Event Description

The Bodhi Retreat is held in commemoration of the Enlightenment of Shakyamuni and the founding of the Buddhist tradition. Always the most important and exuberant event in the Amida annual calendar, the Bodhi Retreat has grown in significance as the Amida-shu and the Amida Order have developed. Four years ago we inaugurated the practice of 24 hours of continuous chanting at th beginning of the retreat. This year we plan to extend this to three days of continuous chanting. This practice provides the opportunity for a complete immersion in the nembutsu. One can spend every waking hour in nembutsu practice. In order to make this possible we have scheduled all admission and renewal ceremonies for 9th December, the day after enlightenment day, to symbolise their forward orientation. Once the Buddha is enlightened, admission to his community becomes possible. If you are a present or intending member of Amida-shu, do make every effort to attend. If you are contemplating an advance in your commitment, please arrange to discuss this ahead of the retreat with one of the teachers of the Order.

My trainmistake became a present. It gives me a unforeseen empty space to find rest, after a buzzy problematic period in family and at work, with a stressed, occupated mind as result. Now i come back home in myself and this is good, so i can come tomorrow to the TBH on an open loving way for the long chanting of nembutsu, as part of the Bodhiretreat. Life is more clever and loving than me!

Dear All,
I am not there in person but in mind, yes I am. I see you all in the shrine room doing the nembutsu. I will nembutsu from home.

Hi Katrien,

I'm sorry that it's a day later than you thought. The tribe has started to gather and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Oooohhhh help, i awake early today (wednesday) to take the train to TBH for the Bodhiretreat and now (at 5am) i realise that 3/12 (the day of the trainticket) is on thursday and not on wednesday. So i was wrong! And i arrive on thursday at 11.25am in Narborough and not today. So foolish...i hope that you read this before you go to the station. Sorry...an unknown twist in my brain, with an ennoying effect. I go sleep again, after phoning to Ksaf...i don't know on which day he booked a ticket. Sus did it for me and i had wednesday in mind but the reality is thursday...oohhhhh.
