I got a group of 16-17 year olds to do some chanting when I was teaching world religion at college, it worked well there were a few of the students who did not want to join in I found the boys were the best for joining in.

I have done chanting with primary school children, most of whom enjoy doing it, one or two laugh, but generally they setting down, and I've seen them still chanting as they leave the classroom.
Not tried it with older children, but I do demonstrate some chanting usually, when I do tutorials at Leicester college, with 16 & 17 yr olds..... usually a good reception...

How lovely. Have you ever tried this with children in the UK on school visits or elsewhere? I imagine the cultural differences with make many of the UK children laugh and be less able to 'feel' it. Unless they were younger and less 'socailised' in Uk ways and more 'open' to new things and ways?
