I had a difficult year, buth it ended very well with an ordonation, so now we are sisters....

thank you for the friend request,..i am sorry to hear about your illness.  i would like to share some information with you about Kombucha. it is a Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast.. just use glass to culture in,  the finished tea is vinegary, dilute with juice.. you don't need ph paper, when it tastes like vinegar it is done.  the sun tea jars are about $6-7.  and real handy.. when it is done you drain off all but 2" inches .. fill with new tea solution. when there gets to be 4 layers, empty, separate back to 1, fill with tea. probably every 2-3 months.  also try Water Kefir.. it cultures in 2 days, use a smaller jar. i add  1/8 tsp vegan liquid vitamin/mineral  to mine with new Kombucha tea.  start out with about 2-3 oz, if your intestinal track has bad cultures occupying it it will take a few days till they get chased out of town.. when you feel you can take more try a little more.  i drink at least a cup 3-4 times a day with my meals. i feel great, i had been taking antibiotics and it really messed up my intestinal flora.

it is just 1 cup white sugar, 6-8 black tea bags, 1 gallon of water... i use 6 blk tea bags 4 green tea bags.. i use a ceramic crock like you put 5 gallon water bottles on with a levered spigot.. i just had one we didn't use anymore.. i got a culture on ebay, get a large one 4" or  larger, i have 8 that are 7" i'm trying to give away ..but this is the South and i'll probably end up feeding them to the dogs.
