Hi Tara - good to meet you and thanks for the welcome - and yes, I'll be at my first training block in October, can't wait! Look forward to meeting you there, and starting the DL block with you. A new adventure for me!
It was lovely meeting you this weekend. I to couldn't resist looking at the amida website soon as I got home this evening. I will look at the course in October and check dates etc. I am planning on going away next week for a week or 2...all a bit vague at the moment. I love to meet up with you when I get back sometime. It will be great to reflect on this weekend and hopefully makes shifts with some of the insight generously given this weekend and hopefully to discuss this with you when we meet again. I will drop you a messg when I get back. Lets keep connected, much love to you, xx
Dear Tara
Thank you so much for the message. I am very well thank you, and you? HOw is the summer going for you? work ? your partner? all well I hope. My husband James and I were at Amida France for the summer psychology school which was a very good experience. We are already planning to go again next year... Yes I am back in the UK for the October course block so am looking forward to seeing you there. Will you be there too as well as at the Sept weekend? I am also very much looking forward to starting again on the DL program. I have really missed that regular contact with the E-sangha. Are you starting on that program in oCtober? I imagine you must be.
Love and Namo Amida Bu to you, Helen x
Thanks Tara. Yes it sounds interesting. I'm actually teaching that week but I think Elise may be going. I know she was talking about a conference on green therapy about that time.
hope you are having as good summer

Hi Tara - Glad you liked the surprise and I hope you enjoy at least one of them!
I've seen Kundun but not The Little Buddha, so it'd be great if you can send the latter as I've been wanting to see it for ages. Thanks.
Sorry to hear that work's not going so well - I hope you can find some clarity in working with the situation.
All The Best and Namo Amida Bu,
Love Hussam
Fascinating!
Well I certainly wish you all the best in your new career.....
Do tell me how it all goes, and maybe you can give me some tips for my addict patients...
You know the difficulties you're having are really interesting ( Well, interesting for me though perhaps not do for you!),I have the same . which is why I want someone else to answer the questions that i;m having difficulty with(:-) ). when I sit with my addict patients, I often find myself formulating hypotheses about why they are the way they are. These will often include a variety of elements, such as mara/ emptiness/ nature of self/ mind etc. But I don't seem able to arrive at any fixed conclusion ( Well not yet). I was speaking with Carloine last week about the courses, and I rather strongly suspect that even after the course, I'll still have lots of unanswered questions about what's 'really going on' and what the best thing really is to do in order to help these people. Then again, they do say that to travel is better than to arrive. .....
Hi Tara.
I am considering completing the foundation course also (And am totally new to this site, so am just getting to know people) I work with substance misusers. which patients do you work with? May I ask how you intende to incorporate the spiritual element into your everyday practce?
Dear Tara, Thank you for your lovely comment. We very much appreciate having you in the sangha. We had a good visit to relatives in Devon. Now we are back at The Buddhist House and tomorrow we go to Newcastle upon Tyne where Prasaa and I are giving talks at the university chaplaincy. Love and blessings - Namo Amida Bu - D.
Thank you Tara. It is lovely to have your contributions on the course and to have you involved in the spiritual life too - the refuge ceremony was beautiful. We've just got back from a nice couple of days in Devon - good to see the sea and catch up with my parents.
Hi Tara - It was real nice seeing you again too and I was so pleased to have been present when you took refuge. It's such a special occasion isn't it, so full of heart and purpose, putting self aside and placing faith in other.
Yes, I shall be practicing a few Johnny Cash tunes in time for the next course block sing-song, so you'd better get rehearsing yourself!! Actually I really enjoyed singing with everyone the other night, it was so uplifting.
Stay in touch and Take Care,
Namo Amida Bu,

Dear Tara
Many thanks for the little message. It was very lovely to have been able to witness your refuge ceremony, what a moving occasion! And it was also just lovely to spend some more time with you on the course. Do keep in touch. Much love and light, Namo Amida Bu, Helen

Dear Tara

Placements are rare things at the moment I have been trying to arrange a placement for about 18 months. The Nottingham Counselling Service is a possibility but they seem to have a waiting list of about a year. Depending on your counselling interests CRUISE, (Bereavement) ISAS, (Incest and Sexual Abuse Survivors) and APAS (Alchol Addiction) are worth investigating.
I have considered setting up in private practice as a way into counselling. Also GP's surgerys have been known to be a source of referrals. It would be really good if there was a Counselling practice which people with Buddhist inclinations could use or be part of. Perhaps this is something the Counselling Discussion Group could consider?
I have read Caroline's book or at least a large part of it whilst on holiday last year which I really enjoyed.
Hope that's helpful and if you have any ideas about placements let me know!
I have enjoyed studying with Midshires. The trainers are excellent. We are currently taking a year out and will be starting again in September. The spiritual/pastoral element was predominantly theistic/christian but very inclusive of other perspectives. Basically the course is tailored to the needs of those taking it. It was small enough to be really personal but very well taught. I began to look at Buddhist psychothrapy during my book review which I did on David Brazier's book Zen Therapy. Where can I find more details of your course? I was interested in what you said about doing individual modules rather than committing at the start to the whole course. Is there a web link? Thanks very much! Stuart

What prompted a change from HR to counselling?
