We've arrived safe and sound in India and are finally getting things sorted out. Everything seems to be coming together nicely and thanks to the help and advice I've been given, both here and in the UK, I think I'm coping with everything pretty well. I may have been here less than a week, but I'm already starting to appreciate how much I've always taken for granted, vis-a-vis electricity, hot and cold running water, and other services we would never consider a luxury in the West.
India has amazed and excited me at every turn. The people have been so hospitable, and given us the warmest welcome imaginable. On our second day, we were invited to Prakash’s cousin’s wedding which, though only small by Indian standards, was an outstanding event, where I was made to feel like an honoured guest, having pictures taken with the bride and groom, as well as other guests. I’ve also had the opportunity to meet a number of Sahishnu’s congregation, and former students, which has made me feel a part of something extraordinary...I just can’t wait to get started teaching! On that note, we’ve already arranged to take classes on Friday and Sunday, and will be visiting Suvidya’s, where we hope to be teaching in the not-too-distant future.
I LOVE INDIA!
