We've just finished another week here...and what a week it's been!
The classes this week have been fantastic, and I could hardly sleep on Sunday; I wa on such a high after our class at Ambedkar Colony. We started the day early (up at 6am), so we could be sure to make it to Madan Mohan's for 8, to attend the first service at the new temple. It was really good to see a service at the temple, with Dharma talks from lay people from the community, and from Sahishnu. After that we had to rush back to the flat so we could prepare to go back there to teach in the afternoon....the classes are growing so fast that we ran out of sheets, even though we'd increased the number of photocopies by 50 %.
The Monday services were especially moving for me this week, as my Grandmother was having her knee replaced. Still not heard back...but like they say, "no news is good news". The people at Abbedkar Colony seem to be really receptive to Pure Land Buddhism...we had two teachers, along with Madan, as well as Suvidya and Prakash for the evening service. The womens' service is also going well, with three women (one accompanied by her son) in attendance...though I think the aloo gobi, dal and rice, which Prakash and I cooked, went down much better than the pizza and chips we did last week.
I'm glad to say that my evening classes (just finished one) are growing too, and I'll now have enough studnts to plan proper lessons, and give some structure to proceedings.
Unfortunately ning's being a bit slow at the moment, so I can't upload my photos...but I'll try again tomorrow, so you can see how things are going.
Day off tomorrow (went to Lotus temple last week!), so I'll be accompanying Sahishnu to Parah ganj, and getting myself some kurta (or maybe material so i can have some made). Fun fun!
