Bonbu is a Japanese word that's used a lot in Pureland and means "foolish being of wayward passion". That's what all us folk are, our karma is too heavy to get enlightened by our own effort, we are full of greed, hate and delusion. And so entrust ourselves to Amida - or Other Power.
