Meditation is a big part of my life as is my spiritual growth. I have sat several vipassana courses, I am learning to teach yoga at the moment and I love life.

Hi Tracey,
thank you for your welcome email. Yes I am doing some interesting things. I have only been running the buddhist group for just over a year, I had never run a group before and it was difficult in the first months but now the thing of leading the group sits a lot better with me. Even though I lead the group (I only give direction)it is everyone's group so I am always open to any suggestions from anyone that is at the meeting. We have been discussing Buddhist Psychology (Caroline's book), we are just on the first chapter, reading Dharmavidya's book 'Just as you are, we have just read about 'awakening' (page 4) and read Quan Shi Yin's Litany, we just read a few lines then discuss it, we have been discussing forgiveness (not an easy one especially when it says about forgiving people that we feel we cannot forgive) i.e. vivisectionists or terriorists - they are all broken people, non of them were born like that. We discuss all these things at each meeting so the meetings are quite heavy going. Before we start the meeting we have coffee and cake and then half an hours meditation which we really need before getting into such heavy subjects!!
I am also an animal rights person, not as we are portrayed (most of us are the softest gentlest of people, myself included) but I just care for them, I really, really feel for what happens to them.
So spirituality and feeling compassion for the creatures as well as an interest in alternative therapies keeps me going, I have many books on alternative therapies, I don't want to use anything that has been tested on the creatures if at all possible.
Kind regards,
Jan Ashby

We also now have n Amida Leicester group on this Ning - you might like to join. Click on "Groups" at the top and then select the groups you are interested in. In the groups you can also start/contribute to discussions on the topic. You may also have noticed the icons at the extreme top left of this page (an envelope and a little person) - they are where you will find messages sent to you or "friend" requests.
Hello Tracy, by the way, do you know Dawn Sumner? she is one of our therapy students and has just opened a complementary therapy centre at Atherstone. I think she's on this network, if not I'm sure she soon will be!
That's good. Look forward to meeting you. We have been having a pretty intense time here recently with the conference and a lot of overseas visitors. Yes, do arrange to come by. Warm wishes
