When Death Comes

My friend's mother died today. My friend and I are in our early 30s. It's an age where we look and act like grown ups but we feel like children a good part of the time and we still feel a deep need for our parent's support, guidance and love. At any age, to lose a parent is devastating. To have them taken away when we still need them so much. Who cherishes us like our mother? Who sees us through such tender eyes?

I am deeply struck by how the knowledge of impermanence penetrates through experie… Continue

I've just got back from NZ. Thank you for your appreciation. The key to important work is to trust in the grace of Amida and it is so much more easy to trust when people appreciate one another and send one warm messages - so thank you. See you soon. Namo Amida Bu.

Glad you have signed up to the introductory course and thank you for your kind thoughts. I was away visiting family and friends in Essex which was why you didn't see me after lunchtime Saturday. Hope to catch up sometime in the not too distant future. Warmest wishes

In a bit of a rush (real world!) but for now - this is the link to your "Taking Refuge" http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/1471831 I can't remember how I found it, but it looks as if it's from the Ustream site where I found other goodies too. Last night I couldn't get it to load properly, but it was fine this am, so you might have to persevere if at first........
Another bit of teaching which is relevant to the "problem" is that these situations can actually be your greatest teachers......gate gate, para gate parasam gate bohdi svaha ("Going, going, going on beyond, always going on beyond, always becoming Buddha.")

Oh Penny! What a disaster, but don't worry, help is at hand. Firstly there is no real-time online chat facility on this site, so no wonder you can't find it! All we can do is send "comments" and reply to comments, but these can either be public or personal. Mine to you was personal, and I haven't got a record of it. Don't worry, you will eventually get the hang of it all. It would take too long to explain it all in writing, so I suggest the best thing would be to contact someone at TBH and arrange to go along (as you live so near) for a personal "tutorial" on how to use the site. I'll email you with this message too in case you lose it as well!

Hello Tara and Freya if you're there.

It was lovely to hear from you both so soon but after I clicked the friends button, your messages disappeared and now I can't see to find them anywhere so I didn't even get around to reading them. To be honest I'm struggling to get my head around this chatting on the internet thing so I hope you're there too Freya as I.m not sure how to find you again nor reply to your message....

I'm definately having a bad case of 'fooling being'... hope to see you soon - Penny (you probably know that already, ho hum...)
