Climate Change

Posted on January 23, 2010 at 21:43 4 Comments

Thanks to everyone for the greetings sent on my birthday (Wednesday)- it was lovely to hear from you all. I had a great day. We spent it at a conference in Sheffield on Faith and Climate Change - Bhaktika's brainchild from a year back which had come to fruition.

It was organised jointly by Sheffield Faiths Forum and SHEBEEN (Sheffield Black and Minority Ethnic Environmental Network). Bhaktika and Maxwell Ayamba co-chaired the day. Brief perspectives on climate change were given by… Continue

Love and happiness

Both Bhaktika and I are still a bit in hibernation, having had a visit from a virus all over the Christmas season which put us in bed for a week. A low energy time in a number of ways. But some amazing and wonderful moments.

Perhaps the most inspiring and extraordinary was just before Christmas, when we went to the funeral of a boy just over two years old. We have followed the story of his short life, which had turned out longer than anyone expected when he was born with a rare,… Continue

Passion, Nembutsu and Diego Garcia

Posted on December 3, 2008 at 21:10 2 Comments

I was looking forward to the 24 hour nembutsu this year, but in the end I didn’t make it. At the gathering at The Buddhist House the following morning Prasada picked up on the energy of my veiled reference to what I had been doing instead: ‘was I having a passionate affair?’ – I quickly said ‘no’ but then realised it was ‘yes’…What was the alternative passion that kept me awake late at night but not chanting nembutsu?

I was writing an article, as I do every three months, for the… Continue

Hi Sundari
I wanted to say thank you for facilitating and lovely to catch up with you over the weekend. It was a bit of a rushed goodbye on Sunday after the course! Good luck with all the hard and exciting work you're involved with and all the potential work too!

Hi Sundari, thank you for your lovely message. I'm glad Bracken is still asserting his independence. LOL Your sutra meetings sound lovely. I'm really missing the chanting. I really need to do a day of nembutsu!

I guess I'm fully recovered from my operation..so much so that I've been feeling like doing something about finding a job in Korea. Not having much success at the moment but I'm getting certain paperwork done and sending out my resume to various recruitment agencies.

Part of me wants to fly, explore new pastures and get our more often. Another part of me tells me all of that is impossible. Sound familiar?

Anyway, do take care and please keep in touch.

Hi Sundari,

Sorry I have been so silent. I hadn't been feeling right for a long time and about a month ago I had my gall bladder removed. Anyway, still on the road to recovery (mentally and emotionally more than anything else).

Hope you are well. I'm missing all the chanting!

Much love,
Suzanne

I've seen the photos because he emailed me so I could download them from flickr - but didn't know they were on his page here :) The one of you and me (which I'm looking at as I type) is absolutely lovely.... what a wonderful memory. Hope to see you in a couple of weeks - I'm in Narborough this coming weekend so a trip to Sheffield as well would be one too many - and hopefully in a fortnight the weather will have settled as well.
Hope you and Mike are both feeling better. Love, Elise

Hi Sundari -
Just to say "Namo Amida Bu" and hope that things are well with you.
Will you be at the October block?
If so, see you then - "Inshallah" / Amida willing...

Hello,

Well I'm not really a member of the Sheffield congregation as I am so far away. I live in the highlands of Scotland, so I can't attend the meetings in Sheffield. But yes I do know Suzanne Sutherland, we have been friends for many years.

Are you the lady who is the immigration expert?

kind regards,

Sheila

Hope you are well :)

Hi Sundari - just confirming that I'm definitely planning to join you tomorrow evening - I'll try and arrive at around 5:45. I won't need to stay overnight but really appreciated the offer. See you tomorrow.
