"It's Memorial Day in the States. I choose to remember obscure and forgotten people as best I can. We are having gorgeous weather in the Chicago area, but much of the country isn't so blessed -- some dangerous and dreadful…"
"What exactly is the teaching/doctrine of no-birth? I can only come at that through Thich Nhat Hanh: there is no-thing to be born ... only causes and conditions out of which a transient reality emerges. And that reality is ultimately all…"
"I find these lessons to be immensely, spiritually refreshing and renewing. I rejoice to know Amida is the One "thus come" to save and heal me ... and that I am entrusted with the task of a bodhisattva, to be a channel for…"
"A flowering magnolia tree in our back yard didn't like the recent cold snap, but otherwise the flowers are coming up. Buddha holds up his flower for our meditation every year at this time! Namo Amida Bu"

I was active in Vow 22 for about a year, and still treasure my learnings about Pure Land Buddhism. I am a retired (and former) Presbyterian minister, now a member of the Orthodox Church in America. I am married, with 3 grown "boys" and 4 grandchildren. My hobbies primarily involve reading (anything, but especially spiritual/religious) and writing (historical fiction).
