Amy's Assamese Blog March 2013

Damn the dam?

OK, this is a dumb way to start this letter … considering that I have not written in A MONTH … but it’s too easy NOT to do. It’s all about a dam that politicos want to build in Assam and the nearby Arunachal Pradesh region. Well, actually, it’s in the works to build well over 160 dams in this region. And guess what? You get the usual sides: big business and politics versus the little guys, tribal groups, fisherfolks, students, and academics, etc.…

This is a poem penned by someone who has been here all week for the practice intensive. He is new to Pureland practice and asked me not to add his name, but perhaps will join the network at some point in the future.

In this space where

An eternity can be momentary

And a moment can be eternal

We aspire to be

Forest within the jungle

And oaks between the creepers.

Buddha bless this

Hi once again.

Thanks for the reply. Actually I have been busy with my tea garden so I was not aware about your visit to lakwa. Thanks to the amida trust site through which we are in touch though. I am very glad that you remember us and our “simple request something from England”. My cousin brother Prasun and  I often talk about you. Next time when you come to visit lakwa I am sure that we will meet you.

God bless you my Friend

Dear Jnañamati

You asked me a question where I work in Hungary. My workplace is  an Institute for  Misuse Patients in Budapest, I work there as a qualified social worker. I lead drugprevention groups for them. We speak and play scenes about  drugdependency, this is the main part of the life of our patients. There I lead an impovisation theatre for them and for other people who like  improvisation scenes. We apply  buddhist terms  in these occassions, we play scenes used buddhist ideas, eg Paramitas, Four Noble Truths, etc. This kind of play called Dharma Stage if you would  interested about it, I can inform you.
May I ask you what is your favourite job or hobby? best wishes Sandor
