River

Slow and sluggish
is the river
quick and swiftly
swim the fish
swirls and eddies
curlsl the flow
ripples race
surface shimmers
formed and formless
the moons face.
Softly softly
in the moonlight
silent flashes
the fish glow.

India 2009

The lotus must be about to flower
for the detritus of millions
is miles deep and the river hardly flows.
Though the weight of tears
has flooded the land
and millions and millions have drowned
a child waves and smiles
and sunset.......

Rollercoaster India

Sunday was dire. Problems already evident at Seelampur outreach, ie bigotry and intolerance by the novice left in charge and unsuitability of another family member moved in encouraging unrully local youth which made the younger children and female students stop comming was followed by my being robbed of money and my phone while they where looking after my bag while I was teaching. I left feeling really dispirited. If you can be robbed in a Buddhist temple by those who are supposedly giving guida… Continue

How to cope with terrorism in a Buddhist way.

Sopie and I are feeling depressed and emotional here in Delhi as the Mumbi tragedy unfolds. As the attack started being broadcaste we were in Shanti Nagar and Sophie had a stone thrown at her. It hit her and bounced onto my back. Our people gathered round us.There are a lot of Muslims in this area and this may have been a response to percieved grievences against Westerners in general, we don't know but have never experienced hostility before in this area, rather the reverse. The next day Suvidya… Continue

Dearest Sahishnu,
I really appreciate your photos...nothing speaks like a picture. You are with beautiful people...and a great challenge!. I also have heath issues...life is difficult when your health is not up to par..I beseech you Sahishnu, be so...so mindful of your physical health too. I say this, aware that we have never (yet) met, because looking at the photos...I can see how much there is to be done...All work and no play ect ect. Much appreciation for your heart and upaya actions

Hi - The ad's are mostly randomly chosen - this is the downside of using a free system - it appears the ad has gone now, but I will contact google ad's and ask them to remove it.

Dear Dr Arbind, Namo Amida Bu. Much as I would like to help the flood victims we have problems funding and getting enough volunteers for the work we already do although Amida might put out a general call for aid. Amida Trust is not a big money organisation and in fact is quite small considering the work we already undertake.Modgala may be prepared to to make an appeal for help. I will be meeting other members next week and will raise the matter then.

Hi

I got a message from Dharmavidya and he mentioned about your project in India. I am a high school teacher in Finland and on December I shall be passing through Delhi on my way back from Nepal. Our school is keen to make contacts with schools in Asia and so I would be interested to learn more about your work. Is there any chance we could meet up if you are in Delhi then?

Regards Tim

Hey
Yeah, maybe we will be better at keeping in touch on here than by email.
I talked to Danielle about the possibility of dog-sitting but she's concerned about the timing of it as it's in the middle of the school year for her son and he might have to repeat a year when he got back. So doesn't look like I'll be able to - I think I'd get lonely up there on my own. Sorry, hope you find someone to look after him.
Alison
