I am 57 years old. I am retired on disability due to injuries from gunshot wounds to my heart & lungs , & a degenerative spinal disorder.
I used to practice Buddhism seriously when I was younger, but allowed my family life to pull me away. Sometimes I feel like I have lost my way, and I want to get it back.
Practicing Buddhism improves my ability to deal with my health issue in a more positive manner. I use yoga while meditating. And a little Tai Chi . ;)
By increasing my positive energy flow, I can disassociate myself from pain & other negative physical issues & maintain the energy needed to keep up with my young wards.

Hi Robert,
Just wondering how things are going in Edgewood?
Do you in fact live on the edge of a wood? Hope that's not too daft a question!
For some reason I imagine New Mexico as dry and desert like. I hope life is treating you well and that your health issues are not giving you too much trouble.
Hi Robert,
Pleased to recieve your invite to be your friend. I hope all goes well with you in your family life and Buddhist practice. I have just signed up for a retreat with Modgala on the 14th Feb. The theme being Fear, an appropriate one at this point in my life, but when was it not appropriate! Right now London is entering what has been described at the coldest weekend for 13 years, so we're all wrapped up against the cold. A bright and beautiful day here though. My wife Ruth and I took a winter walk in our local park and then down an old disused railway line. Sounds a far cry from New Mexico!
Hallo Robert,
I enjoyed your entry and identified in some ways with what you are saying. I too had a deep Buddhist practice many years ago, which I let slide for a variety of reasons. I have been touched by Pure Land Buddhism for some time now but lacked contacts with which to discuss it. What I love is the open-hearted acceptance of even 'foolish beings' which, I guess, includes all of us! Health issues too, in my life heart disease and hep c helping to focus the mind.
I wish you all the best in your practice and your life.
