About Me:
Hi there.......And a very warm welcome to my page !!

I attempt, with limited success ( !! ) to be a Buddhist, classical violinist, husband of wonderful pianist, Kate, and proud owner of 6 lovely furry cats.

I admire greatly the powerful poetry of Sangharakshita - here is his early poem about Compassion......

'THE UNSEEN FLOWER''

Compassion is far more than emotion. It is something that springs
Up in the emptiness which is when you yourself are not there,
So that you do not know anything about it.
(If they knew it, it would not be compassion);
But they can only smell
The scent of the Unseen Flower
That blooms in the Heart of the Void.

My Buddhist sadana (meditation visualisation on a Buddha figure) is of the beautiful RED TARA, embodiment of full awareness - the brilliant surge of rainbow light that emits from her
evaporates the fruits of negative karma -

like dew in the morning sun.

Her mantra is
OM TARE TAM SOHA !!

Dear friend - I am receiving your kind wishes on Bodhi Day and send all good wishes to you! Thank you, too, for your gift, which arrived here yesterday. I am deeply touched and grateful for your kindness and thoughtfulness. I am deeply moved by this sad picture - may we all be moved to stretch out our hands to alleviate suffering in any small way that we are able. I hpe that you will have the chance to watch the ceremonies tomorrow morning, beginning at 7 am, when our dear Rachel will be ordained.

How was your concert? If you're a badly organised Buddhist that's good - it means you have let go of the attachment to being organised.

It's cold and damp this morning in NYC.
Your music rehearsing sounds wonderful and difficult. I'm working a bit on Bach's Art of the Fugue - first fugue - on the piano. I wish my hands could play what my ears want to hear !!
Love -

Thank you. Music - or any creative art - can be an excellent path of spiritual practice. Namo Amida Bu.

Thank you. Yes, we had a good visit to NZ. My daughter Liz lives there with her husband. They are expecting a boy in January. We had quite a tour around and saw most parts of North Island - it is a very beautiful country.

I am going to Spain - well, the Canaries to be precise - in December to visit Zen friends there.
Love and blessings

Thank you, I hope the dogs are happy as they give us a lot of pleasure, the lady holding the puppy is Rachel, she is one of the ladies who lives with me and I support to live a full and independent life.
I like the picture, I often wish I could have a radiator bed and curl up like a cat.

Hey - sorry if you thought my remark was genuine - it was a bit tongue in cheek! I am sure being a violinist in a large orchestra has just as much of its own kind of stress as any other job - maybe one day we'll meet and you can tell me! This weekend I'm off to the Buddhist House in Narborough for the "Introductory Retreat" and looking forward to it very much. Because I live fairly close by this will the first time I've stayed overnight, which I am sure will be quite a different experience from just going for the day. I'm hoping to go to the Bodhi retreat in December too, so this is a bit of preparation for that (well, that's how I see it).
