Thank you for inviting me. It is much appreciated. The concept of this group is well-needed. Mentorship really should be a necessity of life. Then when a person is no longer needing to be mentored, they could prosper without difficulty on their own…
This group is for discussing and developing ideas about mentoring, especially in the context of Amida-shu. What does/should it consist of? What is useful? What are we learning about it?
What do tourists expect to see, anyway? Economic classes are part of all countries and must be made part of every trip. Otherwise, you're just avoiding certain slices of reality and making a fantasy of your own. Though people think a vacation is exa…
I remember when I recited Namu Amida Bu for the first time. I was suffering insomnia and my typical rosary wasn't helping. So I switched beads, picking up my juzu. I figured that after all the research and interest I had up to that point, it wouldn'…
Going veggie is a challenge. I have done that on and off, and ended up going semi-veggie. For me, its more of a challenge to go gluten-free. The books group oddly doesn't have a list of books for me to download nor buy, and I don't know how many boo…
I am a deafblind [not entirely in either] lady that has always felt the call to become a nun. With how hard it is to become a nun in Catholicism, it would seem perhaps I am meant to become a nun in Pureland Buddhism. I love to study, read, help others, websurf, chat, meditate, besides the devotional practises I do for both Catholicism and Amida Buddha.
Amida Membership
Would like to be a member

Involvement in Spirituality/Religion
My involvement is so deep, I sometimes worry I don't belong in this world. I feel I'm struggling and fighting two sides of me. One side of me feels the truth of a spiritual life and wisdom, the other side of me feels the falseness of "just wanting to do whatever I please, even if its selfish". I wish I had a spiritual mentor that understood me, but could never get one.
What is your interest in Amida Trust
I am unsure, but they look like a Pureland Buddhist Order and Temple that seems to be international and online, as well as a charity. An online sangha is very helpful and accessible these days, so I appreciate it very much.
How did you find this web site?
Through Pureland Buddhism on Facebook
What country are you living in?
Canada though I'm an American
What is the nearest town to where you live? If in UK, please give first half of your postcode. Thank you.
I think that would be Armstrong
Are you a member of an Amida group/Congregation
Would like a group in my area, not at the moment
Have you visited
None of these
What other interests do you have, eg Arts, Gardening and so on.
handsewing, browsing antiques, Antiques Roadshow, visiting libraries, visiting bookstores, Gregorian Chant, Buddhist Chant, Classical music, anime and manga, anime music, Japanese culture, asceticism, the pursuit of enlightenment, a tendency for minimalism just because I'm a terrible packrat. My interests seem geared towards the intellectual spectrum, obviously.
Hi Mina, I have sent a couple of e mails to your e mail address but I am not sure if you received them. I was suggesting that we meet at the Starbucks in on Lakeshore where the Cooper's grocery store is located. You mentioned in one note which I can't find now that you would like Ian your caregiver to come along. that would be fine with me, I originally suggested meeting tomorrow Tuesday at 10:30. It is probably a bit late to firm that up now but I will check my e mail in the morning. Maybe next Tuesday would work better. All the best.Michael. Namo Amida Butsu.
Hi Mina, thank you for replying to my comment. If you wanted to go to the temple to attend a service or come to the sutra chanting and book study either my wife or I would be more than willing to give you a ride. The regular schedule at the temple commences again next month and the news letter should be out soon. We live in the upper mission at 416 West Ave. Our phone # is 250-763-0764. I look forward to hearing from you. Michael. Namo Amida Butsu. p.s. One of my goals is to set up an Amida group in Kelowna. I am some what nervous about this because my computer skills are quite limited. any way if you have any thoughts regarding this idea I would certainly welcome them
Hi Mina, I like yourself come from a Catholic background. My wife and I still occassionally play music in Charles Garnier church in Kelowna. We are both members of the Pureland Buddhist Temple in Kelowna which is located at the corner of Borden and Gordon. There is also a website for the temple the web site is kelownabuddhisttemple.org The Sensei at the temple Rev. Yashiro Miyakawa is a good treacher of Pure Land Buddhism. At present we are engaged in a bookstudy of David Brazier's book "Who loves dies well". We read a section each morning (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) before we do our sutra chanting.I ope this information will be of use to you. Michael. Namo Amida Butsu

Welcome to the Amida Trust's ning! Thank you for your several comments to my blogs. I somehow empathize with you, as I am partially deaf, and now suffer from glaucoma (I have one good eye to see out of). I wish you well as you seek out Amida Buddha on this path. There are several hybrid Christian-buddhists in this ning, and while I remain neutral and tolerant of other religions, it is good that you are exploring Pureland buddhism.
