Hi, sorry to be slow too. I worked with adults in a community education project in a run down area of Newcastle for four years about 15years ago. Now my teaching is mostl within Amida to adults.

yes, writing is a great love for me too, but finding time is a challenge. What do you write?

I understand about you forgetting this site. There are so many are there not. Pleased to hear you have a Zen temple in your vicinity. I too lack friends to talk about Buddhism with here, though this is really my own fault. I have many Buddhists friends on-line. Do you mind if i recommend you yet another site. It's not strictly a Buddhist or religious site but there are many good folk on it. It's a peace site for talking peace - http://ipeace.ning.com - it's new (official launch tomorrow) but already has over 4,000 members from 150 countries including many Buddhists.

Hello Mike. Good to be in touch. What age group do you teach? I taught seven year olds about thirty years ago!

Hi Mike. Interesting profile you have. Have you read Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind by Suzuki Roshi - one of my favourites. Anyway I've sent a friend request to you. Be nice to get to know each other better - I had a Catholic upbringing and attended a Jesuit school. I lost my faith in God and found Tibetan Buddhism.
With respect,
Michael

Birmingham Amida Group - meeting yesterday.

Our small but lovely Birmingham group met at Adrian's house on Saturday afternoon. As always with this group, to meet like this reminded us all what a wonderful thing it is to be able to practise…Continue

enlightened or bombu?

Started by Thomas Myojo Radcliffe in Buddhist Teaching. Last reply by Robert McCarthy May 7. 9 Replies

Zen is clear that we are essentially enlightened beings. Pureland insists that we are hopelessly deluded. Both seem to me to be true. On the one hand the mind with all it's contradictions,…Continue

Other-power or Zazen?

Started by Dr Di in Amida Trust & Amida-shu Development. Last reply by Thomas Myojo Radcliffe May 5. 19 Replies

I see Amida Trust bringing the 2 together, or are they mutually exclusive? ie the here and now focus on breath of Zazen implies continuity and oneness, whereas the 'other- power' of Amida can be seen…Continue

The prison of the question of "liking or not liking"

Started by Katrien Sercu in Amida Trust & Amida-shu Development. Last reply by Robert McCarthy Apr 30. 9 Replies

It is surprising how a question, which was a step forwards earlier in life becomes an ennoying limitation that, in good moments, can evoke a smile in me as it is really a funny and stupid question.…Continue
