hi Mels,
I come from london and was given this name when i ordained with amida. My family are english though there is some mix of French and spanish back in history. I am back living in london in our little London centre after 25 years in other countries. the last 10 as a nun with amida have taken me to India, Zambia, bosnia and France as well as different places in the UK. I have been teaching basic buddhism in each place as well as helping practically.
I am interested in where you live and its history and the work you do...
Many good wishes

Dear Mels,
i am at last getting a little time to explore ning to talk to a few new members and you profile caught my eye. The nearest i have been to your part of the world is India where I started the Delhi project taking volunteers to teach english as a foreign language to the very poor 5 years ago. Now we mostly have volunteers from Delhi and in a small way we get into the very poor areas. We live with the people and have a lot of fun too as they teach us...
I am now based in London, running retreats and linking up with Both buddhists networks and the local Interfaith community for amida. i would be interested to know more of your work and life
Best wishes
modgala

Our small but lovely Birmingham group met at Adrian's house on Saturday afternoon. As always with this group, to meet like this reminded us all what a wonderful thing it is to be able to practise…Continue

enlightened or bombu?

Started by Thomas Myojo Radcliffe in Buddhist Teaching. Last reply by Robert McCarthy May 7. 9 Replies

Zen is clear that we are essentially enlightened beings. Pureland insists that we are hopelessly deluded. Both seem to me to be true. On the one hand the mind with all it's contradictions,…Continue

Other-power or Zazen?

Started by Dr Di in Amida Trust & Amida-shu Development. Last reply by Thomas Myojo Radcliffe May 5. 19 Replies

I see Amida Trust bringing the 2 together, or are they mutually exclusive? ie the here and now focus on breath of Zazen implies continuity and oneness, whereas the 'other- power' of Amida can be seen…Continue

The prison of the question of "liking or not liking"

Started by Katrien Sercu in Amida Trust & Amida-shu Development. Last reply by Robert McCarthy Apr 30. 9 Replies

It is surprising how a question, which was a step forwards earlier in life becomes an ennoying limitation that, in good moments, can evoke a smile in me as it is really a funny and stupid question.…Continue
