We had a day of Pandramatics yesterday (Saturday 24 May), did lots of interesting work and had plentuy of discussion of theory too. It's an evolving thing. We are all learning. I hope some of this may find its way into a bok or manual eventually.

Thanks for your message. Yes, we get a lot out of the Pandramatics. My latest writing may turn into a book - hope so. Big task! Hope your move goes well for you. Namo Amida Bu.

Hi Maxine, good to hear from you. It was wonderful having you stay with us, I'm only sorry we didn't get more time together.

I think it's important to think in terms of making friends with people, and having a sense that we can learn as from them as well. Of course chanting the Buddha's name is a wonderful practice, and I think it should be offered, but not through force or manipulation....

Will keep you in my prayers,

namo amida bu

Dear Maxine, it has been really lovely having you with us. A great treat. Let's keep the dialogue flowing. Hope you have a good time in israel on the way back. You'll see that I've started a group for Amida South Africa as currently more than 10% of this network is living in SA! Love and blessings.

I am most struck by how different Buddhism is in the UK and SA. Here, at the conference, wealth, security and ease allow the luxuary to consider sophisticated and subtle aspects of life. There is more space for every (seemingly) minor difference - for every possible food preference or allergy, for example. (I have an onion allergy!) In SA we do not have the leisure or wealth for such subleties. We are grateful to arrive alive (the name of a campaing to get people to drive more carefull) Huge poverty and suffering, stories of unthinkable cruelty are daily in our faces. The job of those who care is just to keep people alive and safe from the worst predators. I think that because we are in such a tight corner, so powerless, so overwhelmed by seemingly evil people, we have no choice but to call on Amitabha with deep sincerity to put our trust in him totally and completely. How else can we get the wisdom and compassion necessary to make even the tiniest difference?
South Africa I love you.
