A vision for an Engaged Eco Sangha Settlement

Posted on August 2, 2010 at 6:30 6 Comments

These notes are a first attempt to organize various ideas which keep on whirling in my mind in these months of residence at Amida France. After the death of my father I have gone into a big turmoil with respect to the

clarity of my vocation and my role in the community.

After many reflections and discussions with my dharma friends quite a distinctive vision is now emerging as a positive expression of my doubts and struggles.

Thus, following the suggestion of my teachers… Continue

Summer at Amida France ....

Posted on June 3, 2010 at 17:00 4 Comments

Dear friends, I have been staying at Amida France for 2 weeks now. It is very beautiful here and we are working joyfully in the garden and the house to prepare everything for the summer programme. Many memories came to me as soon as I arrived here on the19th of May.

I know that you all have already be informed of the Amida France Summer programme, but I would like to share some personal experience that I have written for circulation in the Amida Friends loops. Who knows if some you may… Continue

In honor of my father … and other ordinaries

Posted on April 29, 2010 at 12:30 19 Comments

My father Mario has passed away on Monday morning at 9.20 am Italian time. I had spent all Sunday afternoon and night at the hospital with him and then I went home to rest. After 3 hours a call from the hospital announced a worsening of his conditions ...

I rushed into the hospital with Maia, my father’s carer, expecting to find doctors and nurses frantically working around him. His room had the door shut so I knocked and we… Continue

Leaving the Amida submarine ...back to my father ...

Posted on April 8, 2010 at 22:08 14 Comments

The Amida Submarine is a nick name I have heard been used to mean how living at the Buddhist House is like being in a boat on the sea. All life happens on board, although sometimes we reach an harbor to store up and some of the officials go in mission on the mainland. Although I am just a sailor man, leaving the boat sounds always as a kind of mission.

Moving from Leicester to the Italian riviera in a few hours I had the taste of a star-trek molecular transportation to another planet.… Continue

Not all Fixed Self is a delusion ....

Posted on February 5, 2010 at 12:00 7 Comments

Ok, I am here to write a post again. I am struggling a bit with Ning, I do not know completely why ... But it seems to me not being on Ning reading and writing is loosing part of real life here :-)

So I want to jot down some thoughts who I have had for a long time now, since Simon's seminar on Ego and the subsequent interesting discussion.

There is something of "myself" I cannot accept to be a delusion or a construction of an identity to avoid suffering.

Let us start… Continue

Dear Massimo Thank you for asking about my health. I am feeling slightly better now, my stomach is better but still have weakness. I hope that your stay in Italy will go well. Tomorrow we are going back home. It is wonderful to have you as a friend. Please stay in touch. 11 hugs to you (is there a special meaning for the number 11?). Namo Amida Bu. Vimalashri.

Hello Massimo
I see the NOn Violent Living week has some details. In the general events information it says that this event is for Individuals and Families, we were hoping to bring our Children to Amida France this summer and thought that this might be the best week to bring them but is the program suitable for children. They are 13, 10 and a half, and 5 years old. Could you let me know as soon as poss because I have to book air fares very soon as with the World Cup in Southern Africa this year flights to Europe are getting very expensive and very difficult to get even. Thanks, Love and Namo Amida Bu Helen
