I'm wondering whether this testament springs from a mismatch of levels of commitment or devotion between that which Sangharakshita feels he is entitled and what his followers believe they have committed to? When the order members 'signed up' did t...

Profile Information

About Me:
I am a Pureland Buddhist, living a lay life with work and family commitments in addition to my work with Amida. I live during the week at Sukhavati which is Amida Trust's London home and take part in the life of the community as much as possible. I also work full time as a project manager in London and I spend lots of time in Paris with my partner and two young sons. I am particularly interested in engaged work such as campaigns and I am also a vegan.
Amida Membership
Lay Order member
Faith Background & Affiliation
Pureland Buddhist, with some self-power leanings
Occupation or Primary Activity
Project/ Programme manager in local government in London.
Involvement in Spirituality/Religion
I have been involved with Amida Trust since 2001, after having done some training in the FWBO which is a more self-power type of Buddhism. Though I benefited hugely from the meditation, practice and friendship I was compelled to look around to see what else the Buddhist world had to offer. While it took a while to connect with the other-power type practice, I became more and more involved over the following years and was invited to become a lay order member in 2004. Since then I have continued to do as much as I can in the order and I now live at Sukhavati which is Amida Trust's London home.
What is your interest in Amida Trust
I want to contribute towards a better world - which needs vehicles such as Amida Trust to organise and energise people to lift them from the mundane life to one for the benefit of all beings. I particularly value the community aspect, through which we can support each other in our lives, to stand in the light of the Buddha and to take on some responsibility for the ills of the world.

Spirituality in working life...

It's funny how things start to come together around an idea or a seed planted. I'm fortunate enough to be chair of the Faith Staff Network Group where I work, and I've been really interested in things developing in the area of Spirituality in the Workplace:

- I've started a meditation group at lunchtimes at work, which has had a positive response;
- I found that a colleague who I've worked with runs an organisational development practice looking at spirituality in the workplace, and I've set up… Continue

Hi Madrakara,
We're Friends then, great stuff!
Be good to do an early morning birdwatch at Gillespie Park. Let me know before hand as sometimes I'm off in the week, doing a weekend roster.
See you at Sukhavati next week.

Hello - Great to have you on the network. Conference is going very well indeed. We were a bit down on numbers with all the flu and stuff but the quality of discussions has been high and the workshops seem to have all gone very well - I'm very pleased with it. Hope we can use this network to carry some of the discussions forward too.

Love and blessings
