Profile Information

About Me:
I am a Pureland Buddhist, living a lay life with work and family commitments, living in the Three Wheels Community in west London. I also work full time as a project manager in London and I spend lots of time in Paris with my partner and two young sons. I am particularly interested in engaged work such as campaigns and I am also a vegan.
Faith Background & Affiliation
Pureland Buddhist, with some self-power leanings
Occupation or Primary Activity
Project/ Programme manager in local government in London.
Involvement in Spirituality/Religion
Though I benefited hugely from the meditation, practice and friendship I was compelled to look around to see what else the Buddhist world had to offer. While it took a while to connect with the other-power type practice, I became more and more involved over the following years.

Spirituality in working life...

It's funny how things start to come together around an idea or a seed planted. I'm fortunate enough to be chair of the Faith Staff Network Group where I work, and I've been really interested in things developing in the area of Spirituality in the Workplace:

- I've started a meditation group at lunchtimes at work, which has had a positive response;

- I found that a colleague who I've worked with runs an organisational development practice looking at spirituality in the workplace,… Continue

Thanks for the good wishes, Tara - same to you! Modgala is back in a week or so, but I've been joined by Derek and a few others at Sukhavati during that time so it's been great. I'm going up to TBH from Tue to Wed evening this week, so looking forward to catching up with events and people there. I've read some of Prasada's blog posts from N. America - powerful stuff! All the best, Namo Amida bu.

Hi Madrakara, thanks for the message, it was good to meet you too. How are things back at Sukhavati? It feels like we were in the midst of the bodhi retreat only yesterday :-)

Hi Madrakara,
We're Friends then, great stuff!
Be good to do an early morning birdwatch at Gillespie Park. Let me know before hand as sometimes I'm off in the week, doing a weekend roster.
See you at Sukhavati next week.

Hello - Great to have you on the network. Conference is going very well indeed. We were a bit down on numbers with all the flu and stuff but the quality of discussions has been high and the workshops seem to have all gone very well - I'm very pleased with it. Hope we can use this network to carry some of the discussions forward too.

Love and blessings

enlightened or bombu?

Started by Thomas Myojo Radcliffe in Buddhist Teaching. Last reply by Robert McCarthy May 7. 9 Replies

Zen is clear that we are essentially enlightened beings. Pureland insists that we are hopelessly deluded. Both seem to me to be true. On the one hand the mind with all it's contradictions,…Continue

Other-power or Zazen?

Started by Dr Di in Amida Trust & Amida-shu Development. Last reply by Thomas Myojo Radcliffe May 5. 19 Replies

I see Amida Trust bringing the 2 together, or are they mutually exclusive? ie the here and now focus on breath of Zazen implies continuity and oneness, whereas the 'other- power' of Amida can be seen…Continue

The prison of the question of "liking or not liking"

Started by Katrien Sercu in Amida Trust & Amida-shu Development. Last reply by Robert McCarthy Apr 30. 9 Replies

It is surprising how a question, which was a step forwards earlier in life becomes an ennoying limitation that, in good moments, can evoke a smile in me as it is really a funny and stupid question.…Continue
