Profile Information

About Me:
Hello. Some years ago I lived in the Amida community for some time. Became a member of the Order of Amida Buddha and there I found my spiritual friends. Before that I was a management- and policy consultant, coach, counselor and trainer. I live in a housing-community. Painting, giving lectures and beginning a practice as coach/consultant again from a Buddhist inspiration and vision. My background is in Philosophy and Organization Development. My works gave me a more or less nomadic life: always on the move.
Faith Background & Affiliation
PureLand
Occupation or Primary Activity
Coach & consultant, or must I rather say artist?
Involvement in Spirituality/Religion
From very early on I have been involved with Spirituality/Religion. It took almost a live to arrive in a Spiritual home. Or rather an 'Auberge,' half way the mountain, like Dharmavidya once called a Amida community. That means a place where (spiritual) seekers and travelers can find themselves at ease for a while. The encounter with Amida, as Sangha and as Dharma, touched me so deeply, that my life took a definitive turn: At last I am on my way Home!
What is your interest in Amida Trust
Lay member of the Order of Amida Buddha. I want in way to reconnect, and perhaps make new friends. And I would like and am nourished with wisdom and friendship. So Amida succeeded to awaken me time by time to the wonders of Ordinary Life and to my blunderings 'as they are.' I just need the inspiration to give me courage for walking with through the bureaucratic vicissitudes of a modest professional life.
How did you find this web site?
Works smoothly. It realy gives me the opportunity to reconnect.
What country are you living in?
The Netherlands
What is the nearest town to where you live? If in UK, please give first half of your postcode. Thank you.
The Hague
Are you a member of an Amida group/Congregation
Leicester, London (South)
Have you visited
The Buddhist House, Amida London, Amida France
What can you offer to other members of this network?
A place to stay, Guide, Expertise

'Soundness,' portable effective practice.

I would like to ask your attention for what Ida (my ex) has produced. I would not recommend such a 'product' in my spiritual friends circle, were it not that I happen to know the producer very well and moreover I know her philosophy and spirituality. Very special!

Basically Ida offers a special guided meditation/sound practice. In contradistinction however with methods that use sound or music to 'deepen' one's meditation or brings one in a mellow mood, in this practice people…

Light, sound and movement in Nembutsu

Posted on February 13, 2012 at 11:00 0 Comments

Recently I was reading in a book about Honen (one of the founding fathers of PureLand Buddhism) about his unique practice of singing, vocalising the Nembutsu. Before Honen there were practises in which one repeated the name of Amida and other Deities silently for oneself. This can be called: contemplative Nembutsu.

Honen succeeded in establishing a practice that one could call a shamanic one: circumambulating a Buddha statue and singing "Namo Amida Bu": I call upon Amida Buddha.…

Below this I want accompany my BEST WISHES for each of you by a photo of a little shrine I made in the woods near Amida France. It's under one of the majestic old oaks along the Medieval Road.

This Icon marks a definitive change in my life.

So I thought it appropriate to show you what I made.

I meant it a symbol of change, or rather a blessing for the passing by pilgrim. literary embodying my deepest wish for every traveller and…

NEMBUTSU PAINTING

Just before my 65th birthday this painting was finished.

It’s an attempt to express the experience of continuous Nembutsu  in an abstract ‘western’ way.

Dag Maitrisimha!

Enjiy it! Namo Amida Bu en een dikke knuffel voor jullie beiden. Katrien

Hello Leo - I listened to your dharma talk this morning after Kaspa recommended it and was very moved by it - just wanted to say thank you. And I love your paintings - the one of the beach and birds is my favourite, that light is amazing! Good to 'meet' you, Fiona

Hi Leo,
Yes in English is ok. It is nice to hear that you are so positive with the Benelux sangha idea. We can start sharing some ideas. Feb 7th I will be at the Belgium Sangha weekend retreat and start with the discussion overthere.

Hoi Leo,
Volgens mij hebben we elkaar net gemist afgelopen zomer bij Amida France.
Hoop je nog eens te onmoeten. Kom je ook wel eens bij de Belgische Sangha?

Groetjes, Gerald

enlightened or bombu?

Other-power or Zazen?

The prison of the question of "liking or not liking"

Started by Katrien Sercu in Amida Trust & Amida-shu Development. Last reply by Robert McCarthy Apr 30. 9 Replies

It is surprising how a question, which was a step forwards earlier in life becomes an ennoying limitation that, in good moments, can evoke a smile in me as it is really a funny and stupid question.…Continue
