About Me:
It was 35 yeas ago that I encountered Professor Gisho Saiko. He was a marvellous Listener. His smile was so beautiful. I was deeply relieved by him. It was an unbelievable encounter. Later I discovered the secret. He was a living Nembutsu person who deeply understood PCA: Person-Centred Approach (C. R. Rogers). I followed him. I have been learning PCA and entranced into Shin-Buddhism teaching. Now both are connected deeply within myself inseparably. I am deeply relieved by Amida’s Vow. It is living!
Now, I teach social work at Mimasaka University which is located in Honen’s birthplace and do private practices in Kyoto.
In 2004, Dharmavidya, Prasada, Gisho Saiko and I had a great meeting at Hongwanji-temple.

Now I am very busy. I am doing my work. I am meeting students, clients. I’m having meaningful days. I also visit this Friends of Amida network. I meet many Dharma friends via this network, photos, videos and many words. Excitingly we have great diversity in this network. I am stimulated and inspired very much. I am so moving, thinking, feeling.

I hear Buddha (Amida)’s teaching deeper than before and refresh my Shinjin (Faith) more deeply and do Nembutsu oftener. Great Joy comes me… Continue

Does Amida guide my action?

Posted on May 26, 2008 at 14:30 8 Comments

Kaspa’s comment stimulates me. I am looking at myself how Amida Buddha’s wisdom is guiding me. This wisdom is directing me as Nembutsu. I think partly “yes”, but Amida Buddha’s guidance is extremely deeper and more fundamental than I am expecting. Amida Buddha’s wisdom is much bigger than our thought. In this context, I am Bon-bu, foolish person.

The part that I can say “Yes, Amida guides my action” is :

1. When I hear Amida Buddha’s teaching, I feel warm, acceptance and… Continue

I decide to start a Blog!

Posted on May 25, 2008 at 10:00 5 Comments

I decide to write a Blog. I have written a Blog in Japanese. But, it is a new challenge for me to write in English. I believe English native people accept my English and support me. I have positive feeling right now.

I am back to Japan. Already two weeks pasted. My daily life comes back. I teach social work and communication skills to students and do my counselling interview with my clients. I am enjoying this dairy life. I recognize myself as a Shin-shu Counsellor. This means I… Continue

Dear Vimalashri,

Welcome to Japan! And I'm very admired and glad to your attending for the celebrations.

I could be with you on the last week in March. I could take you to Honen's birth place. At that time David will visit and attending the celebrations. Osawa mieko and her colleague and me will invite him to some places, Matsue, Kyoto and Nagano. The celebration will be on 18th (Monday) in Kyoto. I think you also could join the events. His stay will be 12th to 18th in April. Have you contacted with David?  If not yet, you had better to contact him.

I also let Mieko know about your visiting. She will be join us.

I would like to hear about your plan more. Where will you stay in Kyoto?

Dear Kazuo,

A few months ago Susthama wrote us about you.

So we are happy to be in contact with you now.

Both of us, my wife Pundarika and myself, are ordained Pure Land priests of Amida Trust. We live in Israel. We have decided to visit Japan for the 800th memorial celebrations for Honen`s death, which will be held in Kyoto in April 2011.

We will be staying in Kyoto from March 27th until about April 22nd 2011. We will be very happy if we could meet you and also if possible, to visit the Mimasaka University which as we understand from your Amida ning page is located in Honen`s birthplace.

We will be very glad to hear from you and if possible to meet you.

Thank you

Hello Shanti,
Thank you for commenting my page I'm sorry my response is so delayed. Yes I am spending my time with yes-feeling. Sometime I feel sad, angry, disappointed. Even so I have yes-feeling (sorry my foreigner special English) in myself. My special counsellor is Amida Buddha.

Thank you very much. Is there any of his work published in English? I do find the model very useful.

Hello Caroline,
Sorry, I forgot it. The date is "29 Aug. 2001". He presented it in " 8th International Person-Centered Approach Forum in Japan. " This English version is not published. Japanese version is published already. I will put the date on it and upload on this ning's group, "Shin-shu counselling."

Hello Kazuo

Hope you are well.

I just wondered if you had a reference for the paper of Gisho Saiko's which you gave out in your workshop. It is called A Dharma-based Person-centred Approach in Japan by Gisho Saiko , but there is not date. Was it published? Where was it presented? It would be very helpful as I'd like to quote it in my next book

All best wishes
Caroline

enlightened or bombu?

Other-power or Zazen?

The prison of the question of "liking or not liking"
