"That would be great. I will keep you posted on my plans. I am hoping to get North at some point when I get back and will certainly try to get on up to Edinburgh. At the moment I'm in California and have another three weeks to go before I return."

About Me:
Member of the Western Buddhist Order. Trained as a therapist with Amida Trust. Going for Refuge to the Three Jewels and Bodhisattva Ideal are central to my life. Retired from paid work, I undertake various activities related to the WBO and FWBO. These involve giving a few hours a week to covering lunch and the likes at our little wholefood shop (a right livelihood business run by Amitasubha and Sasanaratna); leading lunchtime drop-in meditations, helping plan and run sangha gatherings and courses for people seeking to access the Dharma. Other activities as they arise to be done. The other dimensions of my life are spending time with my network of friends and keeping contact with my family. I have a grand-daughter of seven years old. Meditation is very important to me within the context of our WBO tradition. I enjoy and am inspired by contact with those from other traditions.

Thank you very much for your comment. Yes, you may not have noticed the announcement which David and I posted a few weeks ago on our blogs that we have separated. It has been quite an adjustment and travelling on my own in North America this year (usually we go together) feels like part of the healing and adjustment process.

I didn't recognise your Buddhist name, but having found a picture of you on the FWBO Edinburgh site, of course I recognise you! You look well. How are things going?

Our small but lovely Birmingham group met at Adrian's house on Saturday afternoon. As always with this group, to meet like this reminded us all what a wonderful thing it is to be able to practise…Continue

enlightened or bombu?

Started by Thomas Myojo Radcliffe in Buddhist Teaching. Last reply by Robert McCarthy May 7. 9 Replies

Zen is clear that we are essentially enlightened beings. Pureland insists that we are hopelessly deluded. Both seem to me to be true. On the one hand the mind with all it's contradictions,…Continue

Other-power or Zazen?

Started by Dr Di in Amida Trust & Amida-shu Development. Last reply by Thomas Myojo Radcliffe May 5. 19 Replies

I see Amida Trust bringing the 2 together, or are they mutually exclusive? ie the here and now focus on breath of Zazen implies continuity and oneness, whereas the 'other- power' of Amida can be seen…Continue

The prison of the question of "liking or not liking"

Started by Katrien Sercu in Amida Trust & Amida-shu Development. Last reply by Robert McCarthy Apr 30. 9 Replies

It is surprising how a question, which was a step forwards earlier in life becomes an ennoying limitation that, in good moments, can evoke a smile in me as it is really a funny and stupid question.…Continue
