K. B. Powell commented on Jude Worth's blog post Is Buddhism scientific ?
"I agree for the most part. Perhaps due to the inspiration, rest, and comfort that we derive from our (mostly irrational) dream states, there is a component of the subjective human condition that craves experiences that are, by definition, not as…"

About Me:
Hi! I'm not formally affiliated with a standard, doctrinal religion. But I must say that, if I'm anything, I'm definitely a version of a Buddhist at heart! My philosophy of life has been strongly influenced by Dharmavidya's works. Further, my daily spiritual rituals are fully informed by Buddhist practices (ex, Buddhist chanting etc).

I love to write. I am also enthralled by the implications of the overwhelming evidence that modern humanity is a genetically tight knit, recently originated family. The next step, in my mind, once this has sunk in for a global majority, is for us to conceive of ourselves as continually and actively striving to become a FUNCTIONAL tight knit family. One in which some of the primary obligations are to a) respect/love "Mom" (i.e. fully emancipate women), b) to provision for each others' basic needs (i.e move toward balanced global socialism ~ a la Western Europe), and c) to take care of the "family estate" (i.e. take care of the environment).

Our small but lovely Birmingham group met at Adrian's house on Saturday afternoon. As always with this group, to meet like this reminded us all what a wonderful thing it is to be able to practise…Continue

enlightened or bombu?

Started by Thomas Myojo Radcliffe in Buddhist Teaching. Last reply by Robert McCarthy May 7. 9 Replies

Zen is clear that we are essentially enlightened beings. Pureland insists that we are hopelessly deluded. Both seem to me to be true. On the one hand the mind with all it's contradictions,…Continue

Other-power or Zazen?

Started by Dr Di in Amida Trust & Amida-shu Development. Last reply by Thomas Myojo Radcliffe May 5. 19 Replies

I see Amida Trust bringing the 2 together, or are they mutually exclusive? ie the here and now focus on breath of Zazen implies continuity and oneness, whereas the 'other- power' of Amida can be seen…Continue

The prison of the question of "liking or not liking"

Started by Katrien Sercu in Amida Trust & Amida-shu Development. Last reply by Robert McCarthy Apr 30. 9 Replies

It is surprising how a question, which was a step forwards earlier in life becomes an ennoying limitation that, in good moments, can evoke a smile in me as it is really a funny and stupid question.…Continue
