We will introduce some basic concepts found in the Amidist approach to Pureland Buddhism and spend some time practicing together. Amida retreats are friendly, informative, and replenishing. This will be a good time for those interested in taking time out from a busy or stressful life to relax, chant, explore one's faith and spirituality and experience life in a Buddhist…See More

CARL ROGERS MEMORIAL ENCOUNTER, organised by David Brazier at The Buddhist House,

February 5, 2011 at 9:30am to February 6, 2011 at 4pm
Carl Rogers (d. 4.2.1987) was one of the most important innovators in the field of psychotherapy in the 20th century. He was also an educationalist of note and a significant peace activist. His faith in the self-actualising and self-correcting power of the human psychological organism was unparallelled. He developed a style of psychotherapy or counselling called by turns the non-directive approach, client centred therapy and then the persona centred approach. He wrote the book Encounter Groups…See More

Mentoring on the Spiritual Path

This group is for discussing and developing ideas about mentoring, especially in the context of Amida-shu. What does/should it consist of? What is useful? What are we learning about it?

Profile Information

About Me:
I'm a transpersonal psychologist and met David Brazier at the Scarborough conference last year. I loved what he shared, felt it was very much in tune with my being & decided to find a meditation retreat and look up David and Pureland Buddhism to see if anything was happening. I have meditated and practiced yoga for around 15 years. I run classes and workshops using these practices with psychological tools to enhance wellbeing - I am researching the effects. My spiritual practice is the core and foundation of my life.
Faith Background & Affiliation
Deep spiritual belief influenced by Buddhist thought, Hindu practices, and some indigenous/pagan practices
Occupation or Primary Activity
Transpersonal psychotherapist/psychologist
Involvement in Spirituality/Religion
Daily personal practice, including meditation, yoga, mindfulness and compassionate action
What is your interest in Amida Trust
David Brazier's talk at Scarborough conference was wonderful, and that, coupled with a desire to go on a retreat and deepen my knowledge and experience of this approach to consciousness and spirituality brought me to the website. Pureland Buddhism seems about as close, from what I know so far, to my sense of a spiritual practice and way of being as I have found. i feel drawn to learn and experience this path more deeply.
How did you find this web site?

Hello - about ning, we have just heard this weekend. The latest post from the ning creators is here: http://blog.ning.com/2010/04/an-update-from-ning.html. We will wait and see what the paying arrangements will be but this is such an important site, as are a few of the others that Amida Trust use, so we would hope to be able to fund those that we consider it's important to continue using. With some of the others that I use, for example, I'll move the information that we need to keep onto other sites so that we don't lose it.

enlightened or bombu?

Started by Thomas Myojo Radcliffe in Buddhist Teaching. Last reply by Robert McCarthy May 7. 9 Replies

Other-power or Zazen?

Started by Dr Di in Amida Trust & Amida-shu Development. Last reply by Thomas Myojo Radcliffe May 5. 19 Replies

The prison of the question of "liking or not liking"

Started by Katrien Sercu in Amida Trust & Amida-shu Development. Last reply by Robert McCarthy Apr 30. 9 Replies

It is surprising how a question, which was a step forwards earlier in life becomes an ennoying limitation that, in good moments, can evoke a smile in me as it is really a funny and stupid question.…Continue
