Profile Information

About Me:
In March of 2009, I turn 65. This seems to be a time for reflection and creating the next phase of my life. Given the world's financial situtation, it is my plan to continue to work in a professional capacity to help others.

In June 2001, I completed the 9 units of the Distance Learning Programme offered by Amida Trust. This was followed by a 3 week stay in July at Amida, France. This program was so helpful on both a personal and professional levels. It changed the way I engaged in professional practices.

For the last 9 years I have been teaching Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction after training with Jon Kabat-Zinn. I find utilizing Buddhist psychology and mindfulness practices with clients a gentle foundation but also a cutting through to help clients move foward in their lives.

In 2006 and 7, I completed a Meditating with the Body program with Reginald Ray in Colorado. While participating in these programs, I had many challenges in my personal life. The bodywork practices and faith in dharma supported me through this difficult period.

It is now a moving on time for me. It is my plan to stay engaged in helping others. Now, I'm stepping back and allowing some unfolding or spontanaity to occur. At least, that is my intent and I'm trying to stay focused in the intend. Not always easy!

Reflections and Photos following Caroline's Visit to London, Ontario

Posted on January 21, 2010 at 2:08 3 Comments

Today is Wednesday, the sun is shining on the snow and I experience this with a sense of aliveness. When Caroline was here the sky remained quite grey. But, the greyness wasn't noticed. Caroline's presence, teaching and facilitation during her visit far outshone the grey sky. Both Saturday and Sunday's events progressed with warm enthusiam and lively interaction. The church service on Sunday that Caroline described in her blog was one I hadn't experienced before. Singing, clapping while at the… Continue

Hi Diane,

I wanted to touch base to let you know I'm thinking about you and wishing you all the best as you enjoy Amida France this summer. I am aware you have completed the sesshin and thought of all of you often as you moved through the beauty of the week. How was it for you?

We came back from the cottage yesterday having enjoyed three weeks of the woods and the silence. I can't believe the beating my body took during my mothers illness. I've had to rest and do yoga everyday just to find some balance again.

Do take care and say hello to anyone I may know that is there. I will be holding you in my heart as you continue with your retreat.

namo amida bu,
Teresa

Dear Diane -
So sorry to hear about your fall etc, I hope things are somewhat better for you now.
Yes I am still part of the training programme although I have put back part of it 'til October 2010 because I was struggling to cope with doing my gardening job, the course homework and family commitments amongst other things. Was at TBH last weekend to do some peer learning which was beneficial. Glad you liked the poem by the way. I intend to post some more when the muse visits!
Take Care & Namo Amida Bu,
Hussam
