I was not sure what path to follow and stumbled across Pureland, which seems the correct path for me!

Regarding refuge - yes, basically taking refuge is the core act of becoming and being a Buddhist. However, in Amida-shu we do actually have two forms of refuge. There is a generic threefold Buddhist refuge - taking refuge in Buddha, Dharma and Sangha and there is a specifically fivefold Amida-shu refuge - taking refuge in Amida, Buddha, Dharma, sangha and Pureland. If you are interested in taking refuge please talk to a member of the Order - perhaps you will come and visit. Refuge ceremonies are either conducted at The Buddhist House or at the place of and in the presence of the local sangha if there is one. Do come nd talk about it if you are interested.
