A quote from the Buddha

Posted on January 17, 2010 at 10:23 3 Comments

After feeling really bad about my situation I found the following quote from the Buddha, which I found very uplifting and insperational and I wanted to share it with you all.
Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful.

Regarding statues - no, sorry, but I'm sure you will find one.
Regarding refuge - yes, basically taking refuge is the core act of becoming and being a Buddhist. However, in Amida-shu we do actually have two forms of refuge. There is a generic threefold Buddhist refuge - taking refuge in Buddha, Dharma and Sangha and there is a specifically fivefold Amida-shu refuge - taking refuge in Amida, Buddha, Dharma, sangha and Pureland. If you are interested in taking refuge please talk to a member of the Order - perhaps you will come and visit. Refuge ceremonies are either conducted at The Buddhist House or at the place of and in the presence of the local sangha if there is one. Do come nd talk about it if you are interested.
