Hi Colin,
Do come and visit our little London group when you get a chance. We have regular events and on 22nd Caroline Brazier is offering a workshop on grief. If you would like to be on my amida London outreach list please let me know by emailing modgala2004@ lycos.com
Best wishes Modgala

Regarding statues - no, sorry, but I'm sure you will find one.
Regarding refuge - yes, basically taking refuge is the core act of becoming and being a Buddhist. However, in Amida-shu we do actually have two forms of refuge. There is a generic threefold Buddhist refuge - taking refuge in Buddha, Dharma and Sangha and there is a specifically fivefold Amida-shu refuge - taking refuge in Amida, Buddha, Dharma, sangha and Pureland. If you are interested in taking refuge please talk to a member of the Order - perhaps you will come and visit. Refuge ceremonies are either conducted at The Buddhist House or at the place of and in the presence of the local sangha if there is one. Do come nd talk about it if you are interested. Well, I've no idea whether it would attract enough people, but it is not so far away that it could not be visited from time to time by teachers from The Buddhist House. As for Downham, we passed through a few months ago and it did seem a little bit upgraded from when I was there, but that was a long time ago. Hope you enjoy the book. Namo Amida Bu - D

Welcome. A group in the fen - great idea! I used to live in Downham Market long long ago (went to school there). Hope you enjoy being part of our network. If I can help, message me. Warm wishes - Dharmavidya
