Profile Information

About Me:
In 1982, in lead of a Noble Monk namely Ven. U Khemachara Mahathero with some well-wisher to this charity organization was founded and the name was given “Bangalhalia Agapara Buddhist Welfare Orphanage” (BABWO).

Why it has to found?
He returns home from studying in Myanmar (Burma) in 1979. Upon return he was struck by the poverty affliction of the people where he lives. Once day, aimed to send two poor children, he went to a big orphanage in Chittagong but without accepted to his requested has demonstrated negligent, disorder and he had to sleep a night on the ground floor in that orphanage. He though and questioned to himself why I have relying on others, can’t I create an orphanage in my village. This is how the idea comes to him of creating an orphanage himself in order to provide better services for orphan and helpless children.

He set up this orphanage for poor student in his home village in 1982. While him setting up this orphanage he did not have any resource to work with and did not receive any support from the Government of Bangladesh. He comes run this orphanage with little support of his villagers and cultivate vegetable and rice in his parent possessed lands.

At the beginning there were 5 students and gradually increased the number of students. At first, it was difficult to provide them with foods, cloths and education stationery and preservation this orphanage therefore he has to sold some gold in taken lend from his mother in given word of reimburse after getting enough but unfortunate he is still unable to reimburse to his mother.

Only in 1990 did the local government of Bangladesh begin being to provide some assistance to this charity organization and some national and international charity organization. But now presents more than 120 orphan and disadvantage children are getting opportunities from this organization.

Through the generosity of contributors, we provide needy children with a variety of programs and services to meet their basic needs and enhance their self-esteem; raise their physical and educational levels in a meaningful, lasting way.

Since 1982, Bangalhalia Agapara Buddhist Welfare Orphanage has been providing assistance to children and families struggling in terrible poverty. With your support, we can continue to help poor children grow up healthy and educated.
