The promotion of the ARTS in the community is a fine means by which we can express ourselves and communicate with others that not on the path. I have even used the movie "Little Buddha" to help others gain a brief insight into the life of Gautama. T…

Profile Information

About Me:
My Prime goal is to seek the means by which I can help others to help themselves. If my talents, knowledge and experience can be used to help others I am always at the service of others.
I have worked in the non-profit sector since 1968, during that time I have worked as a Community Organizer in New York City during the late 60's, later I served as an educator at the under graduate level in Puerto Rico while working at grassroots projects helping the poor. I have been in Hampton Roads since 1985.
I have a great love for the pursuit of matters that bring peace and fellowship to the world community. Humanity and humane actions are a key to better understanding among people. While my world view looks at the religious paths of humanity as being paths to the same goal - you could well call me a Buddhist - I took refuge in the triple gem some 20 years ago(Principles of Buddhism
I look forward to my retirement in some 5 to 6 years. I plan to dedicate myself to seeking ways to be a better person by practicing my Buddhist principles to the best of my ability. Buddhist principles stem from keen observations of the world as it is. This affinity for an accurate awareness of the natural world has its roots in the ancient Sanskrit concept of rta, meaning “natural order” or that “every event has a cause.” Consequently, causation plays a central role in Buddhist thought. Because every event has a cause, the Universe is seen as interdependent and interconnected, and all things that arise relate to all other things, a concept known as dependent origination. This concept of dependent origination and its place in Buddhist thought is one of the major reasons for the mutual interest between Buddhism and modern science, especially psychology and neuroscience.

I made the decision to become a socially engaged Buddhist some years ago while living overseas. The basis for my Buddhist practice is Pure Land, the practical application of which lies in helping others to help themselves. I enjoy the traditional daily practice and attempt to apply the compassion that wells within me in my daily activities.

Hi Alberto... hope you are doing well. I see you're interested in graphic arts and computers/internet. It's the same with me, though I'm chained to my desktop. (LOL)

I'm actually in the process of redesigning our main website. Please feel free to visit it and offer any suggestions that you might have in that regard:
