Helo again!
Just a few lines to say how nice and interesting has been reading the "thoughts" of richard meyers, thank you for sharing them!
Iam also mother of Lucas, 2 years and 9 months old, he has become may best master lately, by touching my heart so openly with every word or feeling he expresses; he really works as a mirror to me, in which the depth of what I see has a significant effect on me...Could I say that he makes be AWARE of things at another level, he is teaching me to be e a better person... I agree with the definition of Mathew Fox for Spirituality, I believe that children and animals, as well as nature in a global sense, do really live life "in depht".... Lucas is now having a siesta..
Regards from Salinetas, Gran Canaria, Spain.

Just a couple of thoughts:
As a parents of two daughters (now fully grown and flown the nest) and three grandchildren, my wife Ruth and I have witnessed the inherent fascination with which children naturally relate to things around them. Theologian Matthew Fox defined Spirituality as 'Life lived in depth' which in some ways I really like and I think well describes the open eyed wonder experianced by the child in her encounter with the natural world. The delight expressed by a two year old on meeting a worm or a woodlouse for the first time! The most humdrum of beings as far as most adults are concerned, yet for the the young child they are really exciting. This not taking the natural world for granted is something children (and animals too!) can teach us. Children often go through a phase when they are cruel to creatures smaller than they are, without wanting to romanticise or overstate things I believe they are naturally kind and have an inate sense of fairness. Cruelty is perhaps, a response to how we are treated by others. Am I right in saying 'Life lived in depth' expresses the direct seeing of our Buddha nature? The clear gaze of the preschool child is often unsettling to adults and we feel we are being seen on a deeper level than we are used to!
