childhood spiritual experiences

I have recently spoken to many people who report that their spiritual path started when they were young children, often reporting profound experiences.These range from mystical experiences of bliss and connection to a deep sense of "knowing things" to refusing to eat meat from age 3 out of a sense of compassion for animals. Do many of you remember childhood experiences which started you on or confirmed your spiritual journey?

I don't know but some adults I have spoken to talk about "knowing" things- either a sense of God/a universal connection to everything/being part of a bigger picture- as children that lasted right through their adult lives. For many of them their spiritual experiences as adults confirmed what they "knew" as children. What I don't know is whether that childhood knowing always lasts through into adulthood. It obviously did for them and they followed a spiritual path of some sort throughout their lives, but I don't know if some people forget their childhood knowing, connection and spirituality as they get older. Often being sensitive is an awareness of the bigger picture that others don't even think about so I guess it's related to spirituality and a connection to others.

What I wonder is there a connection with being (high) sensitive or is "spirituality" something else? Hmm
