Just a further thought re 'What makes a garden healing?'

More than anything else I think getting down to some work in your garden and stopping now and then for a cup of tea.
Also working alongside a good friend in the garden, exchanging thoughts occasionally on the work at hand. Sitting back at the end with that langourous feeling. Nothing like it.

At last the motivation and the opportunity - we made a start this afternoon in the garden at Amida London (Sukhavati - a lot to live up to with a name like that!)already it's beginning to take shape, with the little kuti house at the end it has so much going for it. Ruth and I in the heat of an indian summer laboured away for 3 hours and really enjoyed ourselves. Modgala is away.. will it be a pleasant surprise when she gets back.. or have we been too drastic? What a chance to create something beautiful. It was Ruths first visit and would really like to help out again in the future.

Richard, that's a great suggestion for a new forum topic so I'll formulate a discussion post and we'll see where it takes us.

Maybe we should look at specifics. What might constitute a healing garden.. if we were to discover one, what might make it 'healing'? Herbal remedies growing, sound of water, nectar-rich plants, arbors with wisteria, bird feeders ...

Perhaps we should design one between us, or at least throw a few ideas around? It's a nice thought - entering the pure land of a garden, somewhere in N8 - what would we find?

Hello all. I'm new to this group. I am very interested in Gardening that includes elements of peace, healing and harmony. Last year I had re-introduced a vegetable Garden on my estate. It has been at least eight years since my last garden. My new garden had been the first for my daughters to experience. I had included statues of Buddha and elements of zen stones etc. The garden seem to have developed into a huge focal point for my family. The bounty was a heavy yield and this years enthusiasm is already seen through my daughters.

Hi Richard
Thank you, it doesn't feel like hard work I watch the birds from my kitchen window and have my camera ready - much more pleasurable than washing-up!
