I am not a vegetarian but have been one this week because it was national vegetarian week in England. It was quite easy but I would like to stay the way I am but I am still thinking about it. My Mum is vegetarian but my Dad is not although he is thinking about it. I like being the same as my Dad. Because I was brought up eating meat I am used to the taste I think. Love Hugo

As you see in my profile I am a vegetarian. Are any other kids out there vegetarian?
I became a vegetarian because I dont like the idea of killing animals. It is a bit difficult in Malawi because we cant buy many meat substitutes like soya sausages and so on. My best friend next door is also a vegetarian so I am not alone. Having a friend that is a vegetarian is encouraging. Sometimes the kids at school tease me about eating marshmellows, apparently they have animals products in them but I didnt know this. THey tell me I am not a real vegetarian if I eat marshmellows. I wonder why they do this, I think it could be that they want me to be the same as them and not vegetarian, does anyone else experience anything like this?
It is hard but I also feel quite proud to be helping making a difference to the environment. Someone told me that being vegetarian is the biggest difference we can make to our world, I dont know if anyone else has heard that too?
Hope to hear from some other kids out there.
Love Nyassa x

Hello I'm Luca the brother of Hala and I am eight years old. I love playing and watching football. I play for Machynlleth Hurricanes in the Aberystwyth Junior League and support Arsenal. I am a Buddhist and have been to many temples in Thailand. Other things I love are swimming and mountains, trees and the seaside. It would be great to hear from other Amida kids!

Hello Nyassa I am Hala. My Dad is on the same Buddhist course as your Mum!I am ten years old and live in Wales. I like reading especially Jacqueline Wilson, Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton. I love drawing, modern dance and climbing. I am interested in Buddhism and last year my class came to our house to learn how to meditate from my Dad! We have two cats Misty and Batman and some tropical fish.

We have set up this group so that our kids can have a forum for discussion with other children living in a Buddhist environment.
If anyone has a suitable picture for this group please send it to me and I will add it in.
Nyassa and Hugo would love to hear from your kids.
I'm going to hand over to Nyassa now and she will write a little about herself and (if I show her how) she will add in a couple of photos.
