Aloha all!
We are proud to announce that the Amida Hawai'i sangha has recently opened up the Amida Hawai'i - Pureland Buddhist Dharma Center in the town of Waimea on the Big Island! We have the space split into two halves - practice hall and study center. We conduct our weekly Wednesday evening sangha nembutsu practices there from 6:30 - 8:00pm. It has been a labor of love...with special thanks to Steve Berkoff and his family for their hard work! Sangha members have generously made donations of meditation chairs, rugs, desks, couch, book shelves, clock, dharma related books, book shelves, shoji screen, paint, door knobs, plants, pillows, Buddha rupas, pictures, etc! Our altar/butsudan centerpiece was given to us by a local Shin Buddhist Japanese family - who no longer has practitioners among its family members. We hope to have an official grand opening and blessing when Dharmavidya and Prasada visit us on their next trip to Hawai'i in February 2010. Namo Amida Bu!
