And I have got a question. Has somebody any experience with storing the cherries? I think cherry tree is the type where the cherries don’t have to be totally dark red, it seems that some of them are already ready. Question is jam, freezing … ? Thank you for any sharing.
eHow gives some simple instructions on how to freeze them fresh. My preserving book only tells how to freeze them in heavy syrup and that limits your options when you decide to use them later...
I don't imagine you have a dehydrator there (or maybe you do!). A favourite snack of mine has always been fruit leather. I found this article which explains the various way you can make it. It seems a little complicated at first, but that's because it's giving you lots of options of how you can prepare the fruit, cook or not cook the fruit and how you can dry it. So you can choose the methods that fit the equipment you have available. After you've pureed the fruit, you can add honey or corn syrup if the fruit is too tart.
Oh Sumaya, what a colour and richness!! I always made jam from the cherries and this is wunderful, but..a lot of work because of the pip. I did this with the backside of a safety pin....but...I'm afraid that I'm too late with my answer. Fruit does not wait. How did you manage it? In summer I come help you. Namo Amida Bu
