Create your own Buddha or Bodhisattva statue!
Come and learn the art of Tsa Tsa making ( the Buddha and bodhisattva statues).
Ani Choesang will be teaching the shortened Tsa Tsa practice and how to make exquisite statues from plaster and earth pigments.
Tsa Tsas are relief figures made from plaster and in this case we use ‘dental’ plaster which creates beautifully defined statues that can be painted.
We will make a number of these statues and probably have time to paint at least one of them.
£5 of the cost of the day will be for the use of materials:- fine ‘dental’ plaster. Earth stain - Paints (excluding gold leaf and other ‘metal’ ‘leaf’) and paint brushes.
You can expect to make at least one moulds worth of statues and take home at least one statue. There may be an opportunity for making a second amount, time and numbers permitting and share or donate your extras. There will be a chance for you to paint at least one of the statues.
PLEASE BRING:-
· Something to wrap up your statue, (remembering that it may be damp) for safe transportation. A small plastic container perhaps for transporting the painted one which may still be wet or tacky.
· The statues are typically only 2 ½ - 3 ½ inches high / wide. The moulds usually have a series of 4 – 6 statues in each – therefore you will have the opportunity to take home a few of these.
· Working with plaster can sometimes be messy so please wear or bring appropriate clothing.
· Any enamel paints or brushes if you wish to bring your own
Dana Meal
It is usual for us to share a meal that we have prepared. As the kitchen will be used for the statue making we have decided that it would make a lovely extra practice to have a mindfulness meal in the meditation room. Please bring a dish or items suitable for eating cold.
The day finishes at 6pm – if anyone wishes to stay later they are welcome to share a soup supper and quiet practice at 8pm
